ABOUT OAKSIDE COTTAGE
Oakside Cottage is situated in the small, friendly village of Braithwaite which is only two miles west of the market town of Keswick and three miles from Derwentwater. Heading north-west on the A66, Braithwaite is also only two miles from Bassenthwaite Lake where superb walks can be enjoyed.
The property is a cosy, centrally heated, well-equipped cottage annexed to a former 18th century farmhouse. Previously a barn, it was tastefully converted in 2002 to a very high standard retaining many original features including oak beams and vaulted ceilings on the upper floor.
All the main rooms have good quality oak flooring with rugs, the stairs are carpeted in local Herdwick wool and the kitchen and bathroom have matching ceramic wall and floor tiles.
The cottage offers self-catering accommodation for up to four people, with one double room and one twin room. There is also a well-equipped kitchen, a modern shower room, and a light and airy living room with dining area.
In order to take advantage of the superb views of Skiddaw to the front and the Braithwaite Fells to the rear, the living room, kitchen and shower room are situated upstairs and the bedrooms are on the ground floor.
We are a member of the Keswick Tourism Association and are inspected annually by Quality Cumbria.
About Braithwaite
The village of Braithwaite makes an excellent base for touring the Northern Lake District. It nestles at the foot of both the Whinlatter Pass and Newlands Pass and has a magnificent backdrop of local fells including Grisedale, Causey Pike, High Stile and Barrow, forming the famous Coledale Horseshoe.
The village also enjoys spectacular views of the Skiddaw Massif and is located only two miles away from the popular market town of Keswick and approximately eleven miles from Cockermouth.
There are three pubs and a restaurant in the village, which all serve excellent meals, plus a well-stocked village shop.
