Oakside Cottage is situated in the small, friendly village of Braithwaite only two miles from the centre of Keswick. Here you will find three pubs offering good meals, a restaurant and a well-stocked village shop. Nestling between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, Braithwaite is an ideal localtion to forget the car and explore the area on foot or cycle. Only minutes away is the Whinlatter Forest with its forest walks, tearoom and children's adventure park. Causey Pike, Grisedale Pike, Barrow and the beautiful Newlands valley are all within walking distance of the doorstep. Oakside Cottage is a cosy, centrally heated, well-equipped cottage annexed to a former 18th century farmhouse. Formally a barn, it was tastefully converted in 2002 to a very high standard, retaining many original features including oak beams and vaulted ceilings on the upper floor. All the main rooms have good quality oak flooring with rugs, the stairs are carpeted in local Herdwick wool and the kitchen and bathroom have matching ceramic wall and floor tiles. In order to take advantage of the superb views of Skiddaw to the front and the Braithwaite Fells to the rear, the living rooms are situated upstairs and the bedrooms are on the ground floor.
